November and December Events in Mammoth

Can you believe it’s already time to bundle up and embrace the winter wonderland of the Eastern Sierra? To help you plan the perfect getaway, we’ve curated a list of exciting winter activities in Mono County. From festive celebrations to thrilling outdoor adventures, Mammoth Lakes offers something for everyone. So pack your bags, lace up your boots, and prepare for an unforgettable winter escape at the Alpenhof Lodge.

National Park Free Entrance Day: Veteran’s Day, November 11th – Visit any national park for free on 11/11/24. The East (Tioga Pass) Entrance of Yosemite National Park is 2-2.5 hours from the Alpenhof Lodge (weather and road conditions permitting).

Mammoth Lakes Turkey Trot: November 28th at 9am. Get ready for a fun-filled family event on November 28th! Join the Mammoth Lakes Turkey Trot, a 2K fun run through the scenic Trails neighborhood and town bike path. All participants will receive an event shirt, finisher’s medal, and delicious post-run cider or cocoa. For more information and to register, visit the Mammoth Track Club’s website

Holiday tree lighting: Get into the holiday spirit on November 29th! Head to the Village, right across the street from the Alpenhof Lodge, for the magical lighting of the Village Christmas tree. Enjoy live music, festive activities for kids, and the chance to take photos with Woolly and Santa from 5 – 7:30pm. This year’s tree lighting is “A Whimsical Winter’s Eve” presented by the Kingdom of the Exceedingly Tall, featuring performers from the Stilt Circus!

Ikon Pass Early Ups: The first Early-Up is December 1, starting at 7:30am at McCoy Station. If you’re an Ikon Pass holder, kick off your winter season with exclusive access to Mammoth Mountain! On December 1st, Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Pass holders can enjoy early morning skiing and snowboarding starting at 7:30 AM. After hitting the slopes, enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast at McCoy Station from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

Unbound Series Rail Jam: Test your skills and compete in the Unbound Series Rail Jam on December 8th! This exciting event is open to all ages and skill levels, offering a chance to showcase your snowboarding or freeskiing talents.

Date: December 8th

Time: 8:30 AM – 4 PM

Requirements: Current membership with the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association

Night of Lights: December 14th from 5-10 PM. Stay at the Alpenhof Lodge and enjoy convenient access to this all-ages, fun-filled night at Canyon Lodge via the Village Gondola (FREE during this event), right across the street! Enjoy a dance party with music from DJ Fresh Tracks and DJ Zeuz. Free to attend, but tickets are available for viewing from the Canyon Lodge rooftop.

June Mountain Opening Day: June Mountain, which has over 1500 acres of terrain, opens for skiing and snowboarding on December 21st. About 30 minutes (weather dependent) from the Alpenhof Lodge, June Mountain offers free skiing for kids 12 and under with the June Mountain Kids Season Pass!
