ACTIVITY & ROAD UPDATES IN MAMMOTH LAKES

WHAT SEASON IS IT ANYWAY?!

It’s no secret that this past winter in Mammoth Lakes was one for the record books. With more than 700 inches of snow throughout the season, skiing and snowboarding at the world-famous Mammoth Mountain is set to continue through July. This means activities such as mountain biking and golfing will take a little longer to ramp up.

Even though it’s going to be a little while before spring really takes off, there is still plenty to do. Strap on some snowshoes for a new type of hiking adventure. You can also consider the miles and miles of pristine pavement to take in views while pedaling your road bike through the iconic Owens Valley. Of course there is also fishing this time of year, but be aware that your regular fishing holes may not be available as early as usual.

Remember that weather can be variable, which just adds to the adventure. Prep with clothing layers and hot chocolate (or something stronger) at the ready in case Mother Nature throws us a curveball.

At the end of your day, warm up or cool down at one of the many restaurants, bars, or coffee shops in town.

Here’s the latest on activity openings and road updates in Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding area. Please note, these dates are subject to change and are weather dependent.

FISHING SEASON:

Fishing season in Mono County will open on April 29, 2023. Please note that as of 4/26/23, lakes throughout the Eastern Sierra have significant ice coverage in most areas. Please call the marina at your preferred lake to check current conditions.

Please check updated restrictions before fishing.
